  1. MAXDEV - The Maximus Third-Party Developer's Conference
  2. Moderator - Gary Gilmore, 1:2410/400 (garyg@ack.mi.org)

  4.  1 - This echo is for the support of developers of third-party utilities
  5.      for Maximus and Squish.  This means that messages posted here should
  6.      pertain to the development and other more technical aspects of
  7.      Maximus and/or Squish and related utilities. General questions about
  8.      Maximus or Squish are best directed to MUFFIN, the Maximus Support
  9.      conference, or TUB, the Squish support conference.  English is the
  10.      official echo language here.

  12.  2 - Leave Politics at the door.  Discussions about things like current
  13.      Network policies do not belong here.
  14.  
  15.  3 - This echo is restricted to Sysops and/or programmers who are
  16.      developing third-party utilities for Maximus or Squish.  It may
  17.      NOT be made generally available to users, and is not for general
  18.      Q&A about Maximus, Squish, or MEX/MECCA scripts.
  19.      
  20.  4 - Aliases are not allowed.  Please post using your real name.
  21.      If you aren't sure, look at your birth certificate.
  22.  
  23.  5 - Avoid creating unneeded traffic.  Many people pay long distance
  24.      charges to receive this echo.  Specifically:
  25.  
  26.    a) Frivolous items such as BBS ads, 'test' messages, "where are you
  27.       from" chains, multiple tearlines, replies to off-topic messages,
  28.       and so forth are not to be posted in this conference.  Encrypted
  29.       messages, PGP signatures, etc, should be not used in this echo.
  30.       If you feel the need for secrecy, use direct netmail, or better yet,
  31.       a telephone.  :-)

  33.    b) Space wasters...  Signatures should be one line, tops.  No
  34.       additional headers should be added to messages, nor "to/from/subject"
  35.       or "cutesy sayings" info in the top of (or anywhere in) messages,
  36.       multi-line taglines, hi-ascii or ascii "artwork", or huge amounts
  37.       of over-quoting.  If a program (reader, tagline mgr, etc) is adding
  38.       a lot of extra junk to messages, DON'T use it here.  These things
  39.       are NOT needed in an international echo, and don't do anything to
  40.       further the use or understanding of Maximus-related programming.

  42.    c) Even though it may seem polite to do so, please refrain from
  43.       posting messages that say nothing more than 'Thank you'.
  44.  
  45.    d) Please let the moderator deal with problems.
  46.  
  47.    e) Please, LIMIT your quoting of other messages.  (If you're quoting
  48.       more than a couple lines, you're probably quoting too much.)  Don't
  49.       quote tag/tear/origin lines.  There's no need.

  51.    f) NO OS BASHING!  Discussions about the "superiority" of various
  52.       Operating Systems are not allowed.  This also means, leave your
  53.       cutesy "OS put-down" tag/origin lines out of this echo!  (Act like
  54.       a grown up, ok?)

  56.  6 - Rules of Common Courtesy apply at all times.  While we have no
  57.      objections to a little bit of debate (as long as it's relevant), it
  58.      should be kept at a polite level and not escalate into a flame war.

  60.  7 - HIGH BIT ASCII CHARACTERS are permitted in this echo provided
  61.      they are used ONLY in the context of demonstration purposes,
  62.      or in MEX/MECCA file examples.
  63.  
  64.  8 - No automatic file announcements are allowed, unless done via the
  65.      moderators.  You may, however, help others find programs.  When
  66.      doing so, don't just say "I have it"... include filenames to freq,
  67.      and what (if any) restrictions you have on file requests.  (We're
  68.      not mindreaders here...)  In the case of files via ftp, *try* to
  69.      include the site & directory location of the file as well.

  71.  9 - Don't gate anything into this echo, or this echo out to anywhere
  72.      else without prior permission of the moderators.
  73.  
  74. 10 - If you have written a Maximus/Squish/MEX/MECCA program that you'd like
  75.      hatched into the SDSMAX fileecho, you may send it to 1:2410/400.
  76.      Please include a short description to be used in the TIC file.
  77.      (No "beta", untested, or commercial programs, please. <as per SDS
  78.      rules.>)
